This book was surprisingly depressing. I could have done without the "hero" "plowing" into some blonde. Barely a romance, definitely not a romantic comedy, and I was quite unimpressed and unhappy with the ending.

The Best Kind of Trouble edition by Courtney B Jones Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

The Best Kind of Trouble is great and interesting read.

Ashley Parker sure does know what trouble means. When he last boyfriend cheated on her that was enough. She had enough of bad, jerk boys. She meets Nathan and was instantly attracted to him. She tried to stay away from him, but he was persistent. With time she get to the conclusion that he is like every other guy she has been with.

Her heart was once again broken when she met Caleb. Caleb is great guy. She was attracted to him but did not want her heart broken again. He makes her feel safe and comfortable.

The story ended with a bit of a cliffhanger. She did decide between the two of them at the very end.

For me, the story is a bit too fast-paced. But I really had a great time reading it.

My rating 4 of 5 stars

The Best Kind of Trouble by Courtney B. Jones is the first book in her Trouble series.

I was a little leery going into this thinking "Oh no, another love triangle story!!!!" But it isn't. Not really. I wanted to slap the stupid out of Ashley a couple of times but when you get your heartbroken it makes sense to be on the super-defensive.

Nathan is a stud that makes some wrong choices but he never stops fighting for love, even when he is no longer in Ashley's face or at her doorstep, she still knows how he feels.

Caleb is the fallback, the comfort, the safe. I think Ashley feels that way for Caleb because she knows somewhere deep down that they weren't meant to be - but what do I know? Not much, the story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. The choice between the two men has not yet been made (well she decides to go after one of them, but only in the last paragraph of the book).

A fast-paced romance that made me tear my hair a little in frustration, but the kind of frustration that means I'm into the story, not the other kind.
Ashley Parker is still trying to get past her recent break-up. Colin, the boy who avoided labeling their relationship, slept with her friend, and his half-assed, "I'm sorry," isn't doing the trick. Enter Nathan Williams, star player both on the football field and off, and things are about to get messy. Nathan is James Dean cool and knows just how good looking he is, but though Ashley knows better than to fall for his charms, she can't help herself. It seems Nathan is equally unable to fight the connection, as he pursues her just as intently as she tries to avoid what she's sure will only lead to another heartbreak. And when the inevitable happens, Ashley turns her back on boys and turns toward the one thing she can count on -- her music. But with success comes a tour, complete with nice guy Caleb and lots of chemistry. She's not over Nathan, but is she ready to move on?

But...
I'm not so old that I've forgotten how messy breaking up and rebounding can be, but I don't quite get Ashley. She has one hell of a connection with Nathan, and while I'm all for netting the unattainable guy, there were times when he didn't seem like he was worth the trouble. I mean, he dumped her, chased after other girls, and then went all caveman when Ashley tried to move on. She spent a lot more time crying over it all than she should have, were he just honest with her in the first place. There's a bit more story to him, but I feel like his big secret doesn't really excuse his behavior. But perhaps he can redeem himself later in the series. Speaking of the series... If you pick up this book, plan on getting the next one, too, because the end of The Best Kind of Trouble is more like a commercial break at a critical moment in the story. Yes, the dreaded cliffhanger is here.

The Verdict...
I think the story just drove me a bit nuts, and I'm probably still a little sidetracked by the "What the hell's gonna happen next?!" loop playing in my brain. There were things I loved loved loved about it, and there were things that made me want to shake some sense into the characters. I think my real problem, though, is that there was no closure, just a lead-in to the next book. I can usually get past whatever drama has taken place and even begin to understand and forgive a character's faults when it's all explained and resolved, and I suspect that's exactly what will happen once I get my hands on the next book. For now, though, I can certainly say it was an addictive read!

***I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
I've read quite a few sports romance books and this was very very good, it really does come close to reality. Differently would recommend this book can't wait for the next one to be out
I absolutely love the way Courtney's imagination runs wild. The details, the characters, and the story line were just perfect! A MUST read!
I can't image why someone would get back together with someone that dumped them after having sex with them and then find them having sex with someone else. She painted Nathan in a really good light but then ended up making him a complete jerk. I think that there was a lot more that the author could have done with the story. Even so I finished and read the second book - which was even more disappointing.
This book was surprisingly depressing. I could have done without the "hero" "plowing" into some blonde. Barely a romance, definitely not a romantic comedy, and I was quite unimpressed and unhappy with the ending.
